FAQs
Galvanised Iron (GI) pipes are made from iron coated with a layer of zinc through a galvanisation process. This zinc coating provides protection against corrosion, enhancing the pipe’s durability and longevity.
GI pipes are widely used in various applications including water supply and drainage systems, irrigation, construction frameworks, and industrial processes. They are suitable for transporting water, chemicals, and gases in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
The size of the GI pipe you need depends on the specific requirements of your project, such as the flow rate, pressure, and application. Pipes come in a range of diameters and wall thicknesses. It’s essential to consult with a professional or refer to the project specifications to select the appropriate size.
GI pipes are known for their durability and long service life. With proper installation and maintenance, they can last 20 to 50 years or more. The zinc coating provides protection against rust and corrosion, significantly extending the lifespan of the pipes.
Yes, GI pipes are designed to withstand significant pressure. Depending on their size and wall thickness, they can handle pressures up to 10 bar. It’s important to select the appropriate pipe specifications based on the pressure requirements of your application.
To ensure the longevity of GI pipes, regular inspection and maintenance are recommended. Avoid exposing them to harsh chemicals and excessive moisture, which can lead to corrosion. Ensure proper installation with correct fittings and avoid any physical damage during handling and use.
