Optical Fibre Cable Laying in UAE

  • Objective

The objective of this project was to export 6.5 MT of HDPE PLB ducts (32/28 mm) for optical fibre cable laying in the UAE. The primary challenge was exporting these materials via shipping routes while coordinating with various stakeholders, including the insurance company, logistics provider, client, and factory.

    • Export Logistics: The main challenge was the complex process of exporting the HDPE PLB ducts through shipping routes to the UAE. This required careful coordination between multiple parties, including the logistics provider and insurance company, to ensure smooth transport and delivery.
    • Insurance Coordination: There were several discussions with the insurance company to ensure the materials were properly covered throughout the shipping process. Given the value and critical nature of the shipment, ensuring adequate insurance was essential for avoiding potential losses.
    • Stakeholder Communication: Effective communication was crucial to ensure alignment between the factory, client, logistics company, and insurance provider. Any miscommunication could have delayed the shipment or caused complications in the delivery.

  • Solutions

    • Effective Coordination: Through extensive coordination and collaboration between the factory, logistics provider, insurance company, and client, the team managed to overcome logistical hurdles and successfully prepare the shipment for export.
    • Timely Communication: Frequent and clear communication with all stakeholders helped mitigate potential delays and ensured that each part of the process was managed effectively, from factory production to final delivery in the UAE.
    • Insurance and Risk Management: The team worked closely with the insurance company to ensure the shipment was fully covered, minimising the risk of loss or damage during transportation.
