CPVC Pipes & Fittings

Pipes are manufactured in Copper Tube size [CTS] from ½ “to 2” with two different standard dimensional ratios SDR-11 and SDR-13.5 are made from CPVC compound. Pipe & fittings are produced as per SDR-11 meet the requirement of ASTM D 2846 where as the pipes with SDR-13.5 meet the requirement derived from ASTM F 442, specific to CPVC in Iron Pipe Size (IPS) dimension, which can also be applied to CPVC pipes in CTS dimension. Apart from having the same physical properties, SDR-11 and SDR-13.5 have different wall thickness and therefore, at any given temperature, have different pressure rating.

    SUPPORT SPACING (HORIZONTAL & VERTICAL)

    Pipe should be clamped in such a way that it should not be anchored rigidly to a support but rather be secured with broad, smooth hangers providing for a degree of movement to take care of thermal expansion & excessive buckling. Spacing of such clamps depends on the temperature of a conveyed medium and diameter of conduit.

    JOINTING METHODS

    • cut the pipe square
    • remove burrs
    • check for dry interference fit occur about 1/3rd to 2/3rd of socket depth.
    • clean both pipe end & fitting socket with a recomonded cpvc cleaner or by light sanding or both.
    • apply a liberal coat of cpvc solvent cement to the pipe and apply a light coat of cement to the fitting socket.
    • assemble immediately (10 to 20 seconds) by bottoming the pipe in the socket and rotating a quarter turn as the joint is assembled.
    • remove excess cement from the joint. if a joint has been properly made, a small bead of cement will always appear at the juncture between pipe and the fitting.
    • minimum cure time for joints to apply pressure—-1/2” to 1”=2 hrs & 1.1/4” to 2”=4hrs
